Mission of the Messiah – Chapter 2 Luke’s Vision of Jesus’ Jubilee Year

I must confess to being easily excited when information is presented in a way that is fresh, new (at least to me), and makes perfect sense. I love that ‘aha’ moment or when I lean forward in my chair thinking ‘yes! Yes!’. A practical understanding of the Jubilee Year in this chapter is enhanced by viewing the Messiah, the coming of Christ, as the ultimate of all jubilees with a goal and intention greater than any jubilee before imagined. What will stick with me from Chapter 2 are these two things: The point of the …Follow this path →

Mission of the Messiah – Chapter 1 by Dr. Timothy Gray 3

The goal of this book, according to the author, is to set our hearts on fire with God’s love, just like the hearts of those disciples who encountered Jesus on the road to Emmaus. In the first chapter, Gray begins this undertaking by helping us understand the connection between the two testaments of the Bible. He addresses in this first chapter the expectations of the Jewish people in their anticipation of the promised Messiah. The Old Testament holds many keys to understanding the New Testament. How To Be Holy – Chapters 31 to the end! by Peter Kreeft 5

I was not a big fan of the second appendix, the dialogue between sensible and stupid. While it does fit Kreeft’s approach in writing this book and the content was good, it was the awkward conversation that distracted from the message. How To Be Holy – Chapters 22 to 30 by Peter Kreeft 2

We are reminded in chapter 22 that “de Caussade says ‘we cannot enjoy true peace unless we submit to God’s will’”. This statement brings us back to previous chapters; if we do not trust in God’s will for us, we are not living in the present moment. We fail to find peace because we are stuck in the past or distraught over the future. Failure and suffering are obstacles if we can’t accept or understand that God allows ‘evil’ or removes our blessings because it is through suffering that we can better our relationship with …Follow this path →
